Building a better way to fast
I'm Jack Morton, the founder of Burn.
I created Burn because I thought fasting apps could be much better.
Fasting itself is simple. Understanding what is happening during a fast, staying consistent, seeing your progress, and turning that progress into a habit is harder.
Too many fasting apps either reduce the experience to a countdown timer or bury it underneath features that make something simple feel unnecessarily complicated.
I wanted Burn to be different.

Burn started with a straightforward idea:
a fasting app should make fasting easier to understand, not harder to follow.
Knowing that you have been fasting for 16 hours is useful. But the time alone doesn't tell the whole story.
I wanted Burn to make the fast itself feel visible.
That means helping you understand where you are, what stage of your fast you have reached, how your fasting history is developing, and how individual fasts contribute to longer-term progress.
The goal was not to build the app with the most features.
It was to build one where every feature earns its place.
Burn is designed around a few principles.
A timer should tell you more than how long is left.
Burn turns each fast into something you can follow, understand, and look back on, so progress feels tangible rather than abstract.
Fasting does not need hundreds of inputs, endless dashboards, or constant attention.
Burn is intentionally designed to stay out of the way when you do not need it and be useful when you do.
Good health products should help people understand what they are doing.
Burn uses clear fasting stages, progress information, and contextual guidance to make the experience easier to follow without drowning users in unnecessary complexity.
One perfect fast means very little on its own.
What matters more is building a routine that works for you. Burn is designed around helping people see that consistency develop over time.
I'm involved directly in Burn's product direction, design, development, positioning, and growth.
That means the product is still shaped by the same question that led me to start it:
Does this genuinely make fasting better for the person using it?
If the answer is no, it probably doesn't belong in Burn.
We're continuing to develop Burn around that principle, adding features where they provide real value while keeping the core experience fast, simple, and enjoyable to use.
Jack Morton is the founder of Burn, an independent fasting app built for iPhone.
His background spans technology, product, marketing, and digital businesses, with experience taking products from early ideas through to launch and growth.
With Burn, his focus is on building a consumer health product that combines thoughtful design, useful information, and a deliberately focused user experience.
Burn is still evolving, and that's one of the things I enjoy most about building it.
I use the same standard for new ideas today that I did when I started: they should solve a real problem for the person fasting, make the experience clearer, or make progress easier to understand.
There is a lot more I want to build.
But I never want Burn to become complicated for the sake of looking comprehensive.
It should feel simple because we've done the hard work behind the scenes.
